Good Bye 2009

For those who have read this space in the past, you are aware that tradition demands that we look at the year that is ending.

With tongue in cheek, a combination lock on my wallet, fear of death from eating non sustainable foods, raw eggs, rare meat or non organic fruit, choking on polluted air, burning up as the earth warms or being eaten by impending socialism and the swine flu. I bravely look at 2009's award winners!

THE BIGGEST LOST OPPORTUNITY AWARD
Hands down, this belongs to the newly inaugurated President of the United States. History was made, a minority was elected as president. The opportunity to destroy myths and prejudice were in his hands. To this point, he has failed miserably.
All that has been proven is that a Community Organizer is not equipped to lead anything larger than a city block. More about this on Jan. 18 when we present the year one report card.
THE HERO(S) OF THE YEAR AWARD
THERE ARE TWO RECIPIENTS - First as always the brave men and woman of the US Armed Forces. Without them I would not be free to write this piece and you would not be able to read it. When you see a member of our military thank them, it means more than you know.
SULLY - Yes the pilot who landed his plane in the Hudson river. His calm decision making, quick action and professionalism deserve this award. And all of this was accomplished while he was admittedly "scared to death".
DUMB AND DUMBER AWARD
AGAIN WE HAVE TWO WINNERS, BOTH FROM "THE FRIENDLY SKIES".
First the pilot and co-pilot who crashed their commuter plane into a house during a snow storm in Buffalo, NY. They are no longer with us nor are their passengers. Tragedy is not funny, however the cockpit tapes indicate that the "mile high" club was being attended.
The pilot and co-pilot in charge of the Northwest flight that over flew the Minneapolis airport by 150 miles. There are no words to describe this type of idiocy. Maybe it can be blamed on George W. Bush!!!!!
SOCIAL EVENT OF THE YEAR AWARD
Another no brainer. The White House Beer Bash. Cambridge, Mass. police are still idiot's the Harvard professor has kept his position and the Cambridge police officer is still putting his life on the line to protect him. HOW IS THAT CHANGE YOU CAN COUNT ON WORKING OUT FOR YOU? Looks more like bigotry than change.
THE KAOPECTATE AWARD
There were so many deserving nominees, it was almost impossible to eliminate them all. After much consternation I have selected the following, for their ability to upset my stomach and keep me in the bathroom:
Vice President Joe Biden - Hopefully there will be a cure for foot and mouth disease before he is out of office. Has anyone seen the V.P. overseeing the stimulus money??? MORE CHANGE THAT YOU CAN COUNT ON!
Speaker Nancy Pelosi -She is an expert at un truths, but accusing the CIA of lying really crosses the line. Apparently, The Speaker can't tell the truth from a face lift. If she wants to look at a fabricator she should look in the mirror, if she can stand it!
Sen. Harry Reid - The next time he is right will be the first! To the people of Nevada, Please get this guy a job cleaning casino bathrooms next year. He has demonstrated that he knows how to "shovel" stuff.
Former Vice President Al Gore - I am amazed that this guy is still in the public light. From inventing the Internet to producing a computer generated film. His chutzpah in continuing the charade(s) is amazing!
I need the bathroom!!!!!!!!!!!
WILLIE THE ACTOR SUTTON AWARD
FYI - Willie "the actor" Sutton was famous for having the ability to break out of any jail in the US. In essence, he could get away with anything:
AND THE WINNERS ARE - Bill Mahre who referred to the president and his wife in ethnic slurs. Which I will not repeat. Mr. Mahre is a "lefty" he can say or do anything and get a free pass! CAN YOU SAY DUEL STANDARD?
Congressman Charles Rangle - Tax evasion investigation and generally inept, yet he too gets a free pass. Lets fantasize about him being Caucasian and Republican!!!!!!! Hey Chuck who pays for those $2,000.00 suits?
THE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR
Again this year it is Tiger Woods. We knew of his golfing skills, we now know that his accomplishments on the links were achieved while his mind was elsewhere. IT'S HIS BUSINESS - LETS LEAVE HIM ALONE. Remember, a cover up begets a cover up!
THE BIG HEART AWARD
Jay Leno for giving the people of Detroit Michigan three free shows. Good work Jay, hopefully the audience understood your jokes.
Gary Senise - for all that he does for our troops.
THEY LEFT US IN '09
Paul Harvey - GOOD DAY we now know "the rest of the story" and thanks.
Bea Arthur - She made us laugh - she will be missed.
Ed Mc Mahon - From Baltimore to Philadelphia, New York to L.A. From wealth to the sad ending. A unique personality. Heeers to you Ed.
Farrah Faucett - Perhaps the first sex symbol since Monroe! Class to the very end!
Harry Kalis - The voice that succeeded Facenda. He was one of the best at drawing word pictures for over 30 years. Harry you will never be "OUTTA HERE".
Unis Kennedy Schreiber- She never let her name or social position stand in the way of her dream of bringing pride to those who needed it! The "special Olympics" are truly special because of her.
Oscar Mayer - He was far more than a "worsht macher". He was to food processing what Henry Ford was to the car. A live hog went in one door and hot dogs, bacon, etc. went out the other. We can also thank him for heart burn and cholesterol.
Walter Cronkite - Age took it's toll, he was the "most trusted man in America", back in the day. We will never forget him on that fateful November afternoon, "The president has died". Or the hot July afternoon, no words, just his expression when man walked on the moon.
TED KENNEDY - You either loved him or hated him, there was little mid ground. No matter which side of the scale you were on, you had to respect his desire to serve. Frankly, he was never my favorite, we did agree on good scotch and his propensity for woman!
DAILY NEWSPAPERS - the Chicago Tribune, L.A. Times and other big hitters are in some form of bankruptcy. The N.Y times is struggling as well as their subsidiary the Boston Globe. Frankly, good riddance to them all. They have reaped what they have sewn.
MICHAEL JACKSON - we can't take anything away from his on stage talent. We can feel badly for the lack of a childhood. Was it all really worth it?
Finally, I look back at The stimulus plan which seems to need Viagara to get started, David Letterman who thought that rape was a joke until he got caught with his hand in the (you fill in the rest). Crises which should never be wasted and a beauty pageant contestant who lost her crown because she spoke her true feelings!
HAPPY NEW YEAR AND LETS LOOK AHEAD TO 2010 LATER IN THE WEEK.

WHAT'S YOUR PRICE?

For the past few months I have not been able to provide the type or quality of thought that the readers of this spot deserve. The reasons for my "block" are not important, what really matters is that I'm ready to go. There is a clear mission which I intend to pursue, with facts, fun and vigor.

I cannot get into the meat of today's topic without mentioning the announcement that Susan Sarandan and Tim Robbins have split. No real surprise, Tim's prescription for Viagara could not be extended, and Susan has run out of cosmetic surgery options.

A personal note to Susan and Tim, you are proof that misery loves company.

WHAT'S YOUR PRICE?
Rather than join those who have attacked, questioned or exposed the inadequacies and "mis-speaks" in the numerous Health Care Reform proposals, I prefer to address the manner in which votes were purchase in The Senate.
Webster defines prostitution, as selling yourself for physical pleasure to the opposite or same gender. The buyer is generally referred to as The John (or I suppose that you could also say a Jane).
Although there have been numerous purchases, I want to look at just two.
Harry Reid is the John and Senator Landrieu the seller
Senator Landrieu (D. LA) - received $300M dollars in aid for storm repairs. Lets see, the storm took place over 5 years ago, billions of dollars have been spent and except for a small part of New Orleans, most of the damage has been repaired.
Pray tell, where will all the money go? History tells us that the State of Louisiana is among the top 5 most corrupt states in the nation. Perhaps, Mayor Ray (school bus) Nagen can find a use for the money? A new parking lot for school buses or empty house trailers might be nice.
Senator Landrieu got the money and she the John got her vote!
Senator Reid remains the John, but this time Senator Nelson (D Neb.) the seller.
This deal is really great, Senator Nelson succeeded in getting his state an exemption from future increases in Medi-Caid payment. Essentially, Nebraska will be getting services without sharing in the increased costs forever. A great free ride.
The concession which refers to government paid abortion may well be the largest concession given to any politician. I have always 12believed that if I had nothing to do with the pregnancy, I have no responsibility for the cost of it's outcome.
The Great State of Nebraska, home of Boy's Town, Warren Buffett and the now closed race track named Aksarben, elected a great Senator.
I take my hat off to both Senator's Landrieu and Nelson, they did their job, by serving the people of their states. Unfortunately, the leader of the Senate, Harry Reid (D Nev.) again proves his desperation to please the puppeteers that pull his strings has no boundary. We can only hope that Senator Reid can get a job in a casion in 2011, maybe he could be in charge of hiring cocktail waitresses?
Finally, how come we hear nothing about the price paid for the votes of Senators Specter, Casey, Menendez, Lautenberg, Snow, Lieberman, or Schumer. Apparently they serviced the John for free.
It's great being back - A Happy Holiday to all and to all a good night.
Will be writing again on Monday December 28.

IT'S REALLY GETTING BORING!

HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED IF THERE WAS ANOTHER WORD FOR SYNONYM, OR IF VEGETARIANS CAN EAT ANIMAL CRACKERS?

LETS GET SERIOUS
The summer is finally over, schools have opened, traffic is getting back to normal but the boring rhetoric continues.
What rhetoric you ask?
Lets start with the automobile dealers who are waiting to get their "clunker" money from Washington! Did they really think that it would be paid in 10 days? Each vehicle required volumes of paperwork (we used wasted more trees than it was worth) alone will take weeks for ACORN employees to decipher, let alone process.
Then the check request will go to the Treasury Dept. who is still trying to "spent" Trillions in already committed dollars. Finally, the checks will be cut and mailed. Yes mailed through the postal service! You do the math, most dealers will be lucky to get paid (accurately) by the next leap-year.
Next lets look at the Czars, not the ones that once controlled Russia, but those who are lurking around the White House. Do we need them? Who are they? What are their qualifications? and how much are they being paid?
The U.S. is essentially broke, pretty soon The Statue of Liberty will be standing on a street corner in Beijing with a sign stating " WILL CLEAN YOUR WINDOWS FOR AN EGG ROLL". Yet we have added over 30 highly paid, questionable "CZARS" to the already bloated federal payroll.
Lets get "real", a former union president is advising the Treasury, seem logical. A person who may not even have a drivers license is running the Auto Industry, that also makes sense. But the best was the avowed Communist who resigned from the position as "GREEN JOBS CZAR".
Finally, do we really need CZARS for the Internet, The Great Lakes, and The FCC?
Finally, haven't we all had enough of "Town Hall" meetings? They aer not meetings, they are photo ops for cable networks and fodder for future political use. Our freedom of speech (while we still have it) is best expressed in the voting booth in November. The opportunity for REAL change is available to all of us, LETS USE IT AND THROW THE _ _ _ S OUT!

To gove or not to give, that is the question

JUST ANOTHER INDICATION OF THE DUMBING DOWN OF AMERICA!
I recently had need to get blood drawn for a few tests. Although I have gone through this procedure numerous times I never knew that the person drawing the blood was called a Phlabotomist.
I would have thought that they could find a better title for this profession, perhaps Igorarator, Fangmeister, Stickeroo, Draculamaniac or the ever popular Veinfinder. All of these names seem far more appropriate than Phlabotomist.
What was even more disturbing was the sign listing do's and dont's that was facing me as I waited to get punctured. Just a few tid bits that made me more than quizy!
BE CAREFUL - Why should the Phlabotomist have to have a sign reminding her/him to be careful? Do they stab themselves? Do they use the needles more than once?
TALK TO THE PATIENT - Why, I'm there to get my blood taken not to hear about what they did last night!
WEAR PROTECTIVE GEAR - Have you ever seen a "blood taker" with a helmet, goggles, or boots? I think not!
ASK FOR HELP - They are kidding, right? First why should they need help? If they need help, who do they call, another Phlabotomist who may also need help?
As if this was not enough, the Phlabotomist who was preparing to take my blood, had a problem finding the right test on the computer. She asked me for help! I guess that ask for help and talk to the patient are synonymous.
The next time that you have to get a blood test, you might consider having the Phlabotomist take a written exam first.
RESPECT FOR OTHERS
There is no secret that I am less than enamored with the present administration in Washington, but you would think that a freshman Congressman would have a bit more sense.
Freshman Congressman John Adler, representing New jersey's 6 th District which encompasses a number of heavily Jewish communities, had his staff send a "robo call" to all registered Democrats on a Saturday morning. The call invited all residents to a "Town Hall" meeting in one hour.
Not only was no real notice provided, but a large number of residents were observing their Sabbath, did not receive the call and could not have attended in any case.
Congressman Adler, has voted the straight Pelosi line, with no regard for his constituents and now slapped them in the face by limiting his "open" meeting to his own party and then only those who were Christian.
Hopefully, Congressman Adler's sophomore term will never materialize.
See you all on Friday!

Hillary and Michael

IF IT TAKES A LOT OF WORDS TO GET YOUR THOUGHT ACROSS - GIVE IT MORE THOUGHT.

IT IS POSSIBLE TO LEAD A COW UP STAIRS, BUT NOT DOWNSTAIRS. I'm sure that you will all sleep better tonight!!!!

SECRETARY OF STATE HILLIARY CLINTON AND THE TRANSLATOR.
Secretary of State Hilliary Clinton really "lost it" last week when a translator used her husbands name rather than President Obama's when asking a question.
The Secretaries outburst was appropriate, she is The secretary of State and not her husband. She should not be seeking council from him or any other "outsider". The real question is, how often do translators make mistakes?
In today's world, the slightest "slip of the tongue" could have disastrous consequences. Obviously, more attention has to be paid to the selection, training and overseeing of all translators.
Secretary Clinton, looking haggard, tired and about ready to pass out, found the strength to respond to a comment that was tasteless (if it were true). Had the statement been translated properly (asking if President Obama was in agreement) Secretary Clinton would not have been able to answer. I doubt that The Secretary and The President have shared two words in weeks.
MICHAEL VICK AND MY BELOVED PHILADELPHIA EAGLES.
I heard the news that Michael Vick had signed a contract with the Philadelphia Eagles at half time of their exhibition game on Thursday night. It had been a long and strength sapping day, this was news that I did not need to hear.
Although pets are not a part of my life, I wish them no harm and feel that Vick's actions were at best deplorable. Yes he served his time, was the 2 year sentence really enough for the crimes committed? That is not my call, the judge did what he felt was right!
Yes, people who have served their time do deserve another chance, a chance to EARN the respect of society, to PROVE that he is remorseful, to HELP those going down the wrong path to find a NEW WAY and to ply his trade and make a living. But not on my beloved EAGLES or in my beloved home town.
I have been an avid EAGLES fan for 60+ years, have lived through the good and the horrible, have laughed, screamed and sobbed. Now that I have been to Wrigley Field all that I need to do before I leave this earth is see MY EAGLES win a Super Bowl. But, at what cost?
Prior to him entering the NFL, I told my sports ministry that this was a BAD guy, with great speed and athleticism but not a quarterback. Sorry to say, he proved me right on all counts.
Michael, prove me wrong, earn our respect, ply your athletic skills for this great city. If you are a changed person, you could not be in a better city. You will be embraced by millions. If you have not changed, you will be hear about it load and clear.

IS BILL MAHRE CORRECT?

A Quote from - Fredrick Douglas a former slave in Washington, D.C. 1883!

" No man can put a chain about the ankle of his fellow man without at last finding the other end fastened about his own neck".

This quote is particularly appropriate for today's subject. Is Bill Mahre correct when he called the American people "stupid"? This comment was made on CNN (the Communist News Network). When asked if it was possible for Sarah Palin could win the presidency.

Bill Mahre and I will never meet for dinner. Beers maybe, but never dinner, I have a weak stomach! I do respect the fact that he is very smart when it comes to taking care of himself as well as quick witted.

Mahre's statement may very well be correct, and here's why?

1. We have allowed our political system run amok for far too long:
We should not have law makers in place for 20+ years. Things change, they have not!
We should not continue to allow these same law makers to oversee businesses that they know nothing about. Just look at the Postal Service!!!!
We should not have presidential campaigns that run for over two years, cost over 0ne billion dollars and have debates that are really infomercials.
Our time is far more valuable than that

2. We should not have allowed "political correctness" to take over the already tenuous decision making process in D.C. and change the meanings in Websters dictionary. There are far too many "slanted" laws on the books.

3. We should not take 10 second sound bites as "gospel". GET THE FACTS. There are reputable, independent web-sites such as factcheck.org that have the truth.

4. We should not accept the duel standard in the media and D.C. That allows slanderous, personal and obscene affronts against woman and minorities on the right to go by the boards. While ANYTHING said against anyone on the left becomes fair fodder.

Although there is more, it is enough to say that a nation who allowed themselves to be fooled by a "Community Organizer" financially backed by a multi billionaire (George Soros) and directed by two political hacks trained by the Daly machine. May be proof enough, that we might well be stupid.

Lets remember, that what goes around comes around. We can only hope that the present group in D.C. realizes that the chain they are trying to put around our ankles may also be around their necks.

A FEW THOUGHTS

THE THREE R'S - RESPECT FOR SELF
RESPECT FOR OTHERS
RESPONSIBILITY FOR ACTIONS

THE POOR HOT DOG - Last week a group in New Jersey went to court in an attempt to have hot dog package labels carry a warning indicating "hot dogs can cause cancer".

As a resident of the "peoples republic of New Jersey", which is on the brink of bankruptcy, has some of the highest taxes in the nation, a Governor who did not wear a seat belt, a number of mayors and clergy in jail for accepting bribes, laundering money and selling body parts. I resent my tax money being wasted on tying up the court system with such a ridiculous suite

Hot dogs make no health claims, clearly state their ingredients and nutritional information and frankly are not good for you, but they will not kill you. As with anything, eaten in moderation will have little effect on your health. If a person ate 10 hot dogs a day for an extended period, they would get sick. The same can be said for almost any food.

Whoever this group of weirdo's are, I sincerely hope that they drop the case. If they do not, they should find a suitable replacement to go with apple pie and Chevrolet, to eat at ball games and to barbecue. LETS GET TOGETHER TO SAVE THE WIENER!!!!!!!!

LETS GET SERIOUS
The most recent "crises" which needs "immediate" attention is HEALTH CARE.
Realistically, the health care, medicare and medicade systems need to be looked at. 90% of Americans ARE insured, assuming a total population of 320M +- that leaves about 32M (not 45M) uninsured - miss speak.
Of those who are presumed to have no insurance about 40% can afford it but choose not to purchase insurance. That leaves about 16M uninsured (est.) many of who are not in the country legally. IS THERE REALLY A PROBLEM?
Never the less, there will be some type of bill that will/could dramatically change the way we are taken care of!
I have not read all 1100+ pages, but I have read enough to know that there is NO PROVISION to cap or control frivolous law suits. Controls on "torte" would dramatically reduce the cost of services as well as the need for additional testing.
The most disturbing part of the massive bill was the insertion of Q.A.R.Y. What is Q.A.R.Y. you ask - QUALITY ADJUSTED REMAINING YEARS, this is the system of determining whether a patient should receive surgery or other services based on their "remaining years of quality years". In effect, a board of political "hacks" will be deciding whether a person will live comfortably or in some cases live at all.
IF BARACK TAKING LESSONS FROM JOE?
Wednesday nights Presidential press conference was as boring as usual, 11 questions in 57 minutes. The average answer was 5+ minutes in length. This was more like another campaign speech than a Presidential press conference.
Vice President Bidens perpencity for idiotic statements seems to be rubbing off on the President. The hi lites of the evening were:
DOCTORS MAKE DECISIONS BASED ON PAYMENT. It's a good thing that the President has a personal physician. It is fair to say there are not many doctors who want this type of patient.
THE CAMBRIDGE POLICE ACTED STUPID - The chief law enforcement official in the nation, degraded a police force while admitting that he DID NOT have all of the facts. Whether the police were right or the involved perpetrator was right is not relevant. A President and supposed leader should not act in such an aggorant manner.
